Our client is a well-funded advanced technology company operating in the smart infrastructure and autonomous sensing space. They are looking for a Business Development Director based in Riyadh. The company is establishing a regional center of excellence in Saudi Arabia, delivering next-generation perception and analytics solutions for large-scale infrastructure, mobility, and security projects. The company works closely with government entities, major developers, and Tier-1 system integrators, with solutions deployed across mission-critical, safety-driven environments. Reporting to CEO, you will manage a team of 2 and be responsible for building the Saudi market from the ground up. You will own end-to-end business development and sales execution, focusing on government-led and sovereign-backed infrastructure programs. As the company scales, this role evolves into a regional or national sales leadership position. Below more details:
- Strategic Market Entry: Define and execute the go-to-market strategy for our unique multi-sensor fusion stack, targeting high-value sectors: Smart Cities, ITS, Defense, and Giga-projects.
- High-Stakes Relationship Management: communicate with all client types such as local Ministries, Municipalities, and Giga-project developers (NEOM, Red Sea, etc.), as well as foreign clients and navigating complex procurement cycles.
- Value Translation: Distill the technical advantages of LCM-based LiDAR (reliability, no moving parts, resolution) into compelling ROI-driven business cases for non-technical decision-makers.
- Pipeline Engineering: Move beyond lead generation to “deal architecture”—identifying, qualifying, and closing $5M+ contracts through rigorous stakeholder mapping and RFP leadership.
- Ecosystem Building: Foster a network of Tier-1 System Integrators and OEMs to ensure Electronic Photonics is the “standard” for perception in regional infrastructure tenders.
What You Bring (Qualifications):
- Experience: 8–12 years of proven success in B2B/B2G sales. List of established contacts within public sector or major infrastructure players is preferable.
- Technical Literacy: You don’t need to be an engineer, but you must be able to explain the difference between a camera and a LiDAR sensor—and why using both (Sensor Fusion) is the future.
- The “Hunter” Mentality: You have a track record of building “greenfield” territories from zero to significant revenue.
- Cultural Fluency: Native or professional fluency in English is essential. Arabic Fluency is a plus. You understand the nuances of doing business in Riyadh and the broader GCC.
- Project Mastery: Experience managing long-cycle RFPs and high-value government tenders.
Who You Are (Attributes):
- Entrepreneurial: You thrive in the “ambiguity” of a growing company. You don’t wait for a playbook; you write it.
- Consultative: You don’t just sell products; you solve problems. You can sit with a transport authority and co-design a solution for incident detection.
- Data-Driven: You use CRM data to forecast accurately and refine your approach based on win/loss analysis.
